Mattress & Foundation Recycling

A lesson learned by experience

Mattresses and foundations are designed to not compress over time to give you years of comfort. That support is great for your back but not good for the landfill. Because they are bulky, many local and state governments have begun to require mattress recycling. We have seen the need for years and want to be part of the solution.

Did you know that 90-95% of a mattress and mattress foundation can be recycled or repurposed. The steel, plastic and cardboard are collected and recycled. Wood, cotton, and foam are gathered and shipped to where they can be shredded for use as landscape mulch, green insulation, or carpet padding.

In an effort to be more environmentally responsible and protect our beautiful state, we are providing our customers with a way to recycle unwanted items. For $15, when you purchase your new mattress, foundation, or appliance from Hunter’s, we will make sure the old is properly recycled and not end up in a landfill.
