Why We Recycle!
We at Hunter’s believe in providing amazing products and services to our customers. One of these services is recycling. We believe in being responsible stewards of the land, water, and air. We believe in taking a proactive stance in preserving these precious commodities. We believe in doing our part by helping our customers properly dispose of old appliances, old mattresses, and the cardboard that their new products come in. We believe in eliminating these items from the Teton and Lincoln County transfer stations. We believe in saving our customers potential tax liabilities due to the costs of handling these items. Both Teton & Lincoln County are facing very challenging issues in managing their residents waste.
What and how we recycle:
- We re-purposed: We took an old commercial property and turned into a eye pleasing retail store.
- We added a card board baler, to bale all shipping cardboard.
- We added a semi trailer to haul old cardboard, old appliances, and old mattresses to actual recyclers in Utah.
- We have reduced many semi loads of waste from the Lincoln & Teton County Transfer stations over the years. Both counties are facing huge issues regarding wastes.
We charge our customers a flat fee of $25 per appliance, mattress or box spring to help us partially offset the true costs of transportation out of state. No one does it cheaper or more efficient! Hunter’s is your true partner in being stewards of the land, water and air.
Mattress & Foundation Recycling A Lesson Learned by Experience
Mattresses and foundations are designed to not compress over time to give you years of comfort. That support is great for your back but not good for the landfill. Because they are bulky, many local and state governments have begun to require mattress recycling. We have seen the need for years and want to be part of the solution.
Did you know that 90-95% of a mattress and mattress foundation can be recycled or repurposed. The steel, plastic and cardboard are collected and recycled. Wood, cotton, and foam are gathered and shipped to where they can be shredded for use as landscape mulch, green insulation, or carpet padding.

Appliance Recycling One Appliance at a Time
If you have ever tried to move an appliance on your own, you know that it can be a difficult task. They can be large and heavy making them awkward to move through your home without causing damage; either to your back or your home. Some appliances even contain hazardous chemicals that can leak into the environment if left to breakdown outside.
At Hunter’s we take the steps to properly uninstall, remove, and recycle your old appliances. We have the equipment required to safely move even the largest refrigerator or range. Appliances are professionally evacuated of any hazardous chemicals that could deplete the atmosphere and are loaded on a enclosed trailer to go directly to the recycler.
Packaging Recycling Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Manufacturers tried their best to assure their products arrive at our warehouse without damage. To keep those items protected they use a lot of cardboard. We keep a few large boxes to be reused in family and community projects but the rest of the cardboard is prepared and bailed for recycling.
Wood, plastic sheeting and expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam are other materials used to safeguard products. We are currently looking for recyclers that would take them so we could reuse, repurpose, or recycle all our packaging waste.
